Section 1.0

Two Distinct Protections — Please Read This First

This page covers two legally different rights, and it is important not to confuse them. Understanding the difference will help you know exactly what to expect at every stage of owning a product from Carplaylux.

RIGHT ONE

The Statutory Right of Withdrawal

This is a mandatory legal right granted to every consumer in the European Union under Directive 2011/83/EU. It lets you cancel your purchase within 14 calendar days of receiving your goods, for any reason or no reason at all, without needing to justify your decision. It is not a goodwill gesture from Carplaylux — it exists whether or not we choose to offer it, and we cannot reduce it below the statutory minimum. Sections 2 through 8 below explain how it works.

RIGHT TWO

The Legal Guarantee of Conformity

This is a separate statutory guarantee that a product must work correctly and match its description for a minimum of two years from delivery (three years in Portugal and Spain), regardless of whether the 14-day withdrawal window has passed. If a product develops a fault after installation, or after the 14 days have elapsed, this is the right that protects you — not the withdrawal right described on this page. Section 10 below explains exactly how the two interact.

In short: within the first 14 days, you can change your mind for any reason. After that, and at any point within the guarantee period, you remain protected if the product is faulty or not as described. Neither right ever disappears because of the other.

Section 2.0

Your Statutory 14-Day Right of Withdrawal

If you are a consumer ordering from Carplaylux for delivery within Belgium, the Czech Republic, France, Germany, Hungary, Italy, Croatia, the Netherlands, Austria, Portugal, Slovakia, Slovenia, or Spain, you have the legal right to withdraw from your purchase within 14 calendar days of the day you (or a person you nominate) take physical possession of the goods. This is a right granted directly by EU law — specifically the Consumer Rights Directive 2011/83/EU as transposed into the national law of each of the above countries — and it exists independently of any policy we choose to write.

You do not need to give us a reason. You do not need the product to be faulty. You are simply entitled to change your mind. Where your order is made up of multiple items delivered separately, the 14-day period runs from the day you receive the last item in the order.

WHEN IT STARTS

Day of Receipt

The 14-day clock starts the day the goods physically arrive with you, not the day you place the order or the day payment is taken.

NO REASON NEEDED

Unconditional Right

You are never required to explain why you are withdrawing. A simple, timely notice to us is all the law requires.

DEADLINE

Notify Us, Then Return

You only need to send us your withdrawal notice within the 14 days. You then have a further 14 days from that notice to physically send the goods back.

IF NOT INFORMED

Extended Protection

If a trader fails to properly inform a consumer of the withdrawal right, EU law extends the period by up to 12 months. We have written this policy specifically to avoid that failure.

Section 3.0

How to Exercise Your Right of Withdrawal

To withdraw from your contract, you simply need to send us a clear statement of your decision before the 14-day deadline expires. There is no prescribed format — an email is the fastest route — but we have also reproduced the official EU model withdrawal form in Section 4 below if you would prefer to use it.

1

Send a Clear Statement

Email info@carplaylux.com with your order number, your name, and a plain statement that you wish to withdraw from your contract. You may also post a written statement to our registered address (Section 7 of our Legal Notice). Using the model form in Section 4 is optional, not required.

2

We Confirm Receipt

We acknowledge every withdrawal notice by email, usually within 1 business day, and confirm the return address and any packaging guidance relevant to your specific product.

3

Send the Goods Back

You then have 14 calendar days from the date you sent us your withdrawal notice to physically dispatch the goods back to us, using a trackable courier service.

4

We Refund You

Once we receive the goods, or you provide evidence you have dispatched them (whichever is earlier), we refund you within 14 days via your original payment method. See Section 7 for full detail.

Section 4.0

Model Withdrawal Form

This is the standard EU model withdrawal form set out in Annex I(B) of Directive 2011/83/EU. You are welcome to copy the text below into an email to us, print and post it, or simply write your own statement in your own words — all three are equally valid ways to exercise your right of withdrawal. Complete and send only if you wish to withdraw from the contract.

Section 5.0

What You Are Allowed to Do With the Goods During the 14 Days

EU law entitles you to unpack, examine, and test your product during the 14-day period in the same way you would be allowed to handle it in a physical shop before buying it. This means opening the box, checking the item for damage, examining the fit and finish, and confirming it looks like what was described — all without losing your right to a full refund.

What the law does not permit is using the goods beyond what is necessary to establish their nature, characteristics, and function. Concretely, for the products we sell, this means:

  • You may unbox, inspect, and dry-fit a headlight, rear light, or infotainment unit to check it against your vehicle before committing to install it.
  • Permanently wiring an infotainment unit into your vehicle's harness, cutting or trimming any cable, or bonding/adhering a lighting assembly to bodywork goes beyond mere inspection and may reduce the value of the goods.
  • Where handling beyond simple inspection has diminished the value of the goods, we may deduct an amount reflecting that diminished value from your refund, as EU law permits — we will always explain the calculation to you in writing before doing so.

In Practice

  • Keep the original packaging where possible — it protects the item and helps a smooth inspection, but its absence alone does not forfeit your right.
  • Retain all included accessories, cables, mounts, and documentation.
  • If you are unsure whether an action (such as a trial fitting) would be considered normal inspection, contact us first at info@carplaylux.com — we would rather advise you in advance than dispute a deduction afterwards.
Section 6.0

Who Pays the Return Shipping Cost

Under Directive 2011/83/EU, a trader may require the consumer to bear the direct cost of returning goods following a statutory withdrawal, provided the trader discloses this clearly before the order is placed. We are disclosing it here, on our storefront's product and checkout pages, and in this policy, so that this condition is met in full transparency.

Standard Withdrawal Returns

For a withdrawal not caused by any fault of ours, you are responsible for the direct cost of returning the goods to Dordrecht, the Netherlands. Because many of our products are physically large (lighting assemblies, infotainment head units, digital clusters), we recommend obtaining a courier quote before dispatch, and we will always tell you our estimated return cost when you notify us of your withdrawal, where this is possible to estimate in advance.

Our Fault, or a Defective Item

If you are returning goods because we sent the wrong item, the item does not match its listing, or the item arrived damaged or defective, we bear the full return shipping cost. We will provide a prepaid return label or reimburse your reasonable return postage in full — see Section 9 for the process.

We recommend using a trackable, insured courier service for all returns. We cannot be responsible for a return parcel that is lost or damaged in transit before it reaches us, so please retain your proof of postage until your refund is confirmed.

Section 7.0

Refund Timeline and Method

Timing. We refund you within 14 calendar days of whichever happens first: the day we receive the returned goods, or the day you provide us with evidence that you have sent the goods back (such as a courier tracking number or proof-of-postage receipt). We are legally entitled to withhold the refund until one of those two events occurs, but we will never delay beyond the 14-day window once it does.

Method. Refunds are issued using the same payment method you used for the original order — the same card, PayPal account, Klarna arrangement, or other payment method — unless you explicitly agree with us to a different method. You will not incur any fee as a result of the refund.

What Is Refunded. We refund the full price you paid for the returned goods, including the standard delivery cost you originally paid to receive them. If you chose an upgraded or express delivery option more expensive than our standard option, we only need to refund the equivalent of standard delivery, as permitted under Directive 2011/83/EU Article 13(2). As explained in Section 5, a deduction for diminished value may apply where goods were handled beyond normal inspection.

Refund Timeline at a Glance

We acknowledge withdrawal ≤ 1 business day
You dispatch the goods ≤ 14 days after notice
We issue your refund ≤ 14 days after receipt
Section 8.0

Goods That Are Genuinely Exempt From the Right of Withdrawal

Directive 2011/83/EU, Article 16(c), allows a narrow exemption from the right of withdrawal for goods that are made to the consumer's own specifications or are clearly personalised. This is a genuinely narrow exception, and we want to be precise and honest with you about exactly what it does and does not cover across our catalogue.

Important: Vehicle Compatibility Alone Does Not Remove Your Right

The great majority of our catalogue — including wireless CarPlay units, Android Auto multimedia systems, LED headlight kits, LED rear light kits, and OEM-style or aftermarket lighting — consists of standard, pre-manufactured stock items that are simply selected to match your vehicle's make, model, and production year. Selecting a standard product that fits your BMW, Audi, or Mercedes-Benz is not the same as having a product built to your own specification. These items remain fully covered by the 14-day right of withdrawal described in Sections 2 through 7 above. We do not exclude standard, catalogue-listed, vehicle-specific products from withdrawal merely because they are described as being "for" a particular vehicle.

What Is Genuinely Exempt

  • Any item we manufacture, cut, machine, or reconfigure specifically to a bespoke measurement or specification that you personally provide to us, and that would not be resaleable to another customer as a standard catalogue item.
  • Any product that we clearly label as "made to order" or "custom-built" at the point of sale, where the listing explicitly states that the withdrawal right does not apply for this reason.

As of the effective date of this policy, we do not currently list any bespoke or made-to-order products of this kind in our catalogue. If this changes, the relevant product listing will state so explicitly and individually — this Section 8 will never be applied as a blanket exclusion.

What Is Not Exempt

  • Standard-SKU wireless CarPlay and Android Auto units, even where a specific listing is matched to your dashboard shape.
  • Standard LED headlight kits, LED rear light kits, and Dragon Scale-style rear light assemblies sold as stocked catalogue items.
  • Genuine used OEM parts and OEM-style replacement parts sold from existing stock, described in Section 7 of our Legal Notice.
  • Automotive electronics, digital clusters, and interior or exterior accessories sold as standard catalogue items.
Section 9.0

Items That Arrive Damaged, Defective, or Incorrect

If your order arrives damaged in transit, is faulty out of the box, or is not the item you ordered, please contact us within 48 hours of delivery so we can resolve it as quickly as possible. This short window is simply so we can act fast on your behalf and does not limit your separate, longer-lasting rights under the legal guarantee of conformity described in Section 10.

What to Send Us

  • Your order number
  • Clear photographs of the product itself
  • Photographs of the outer and inner packaging as received
  • A short description of the fault, damage, or discrepancy

Email everything to info@carplaylux.com.

What Happens Next

We review every report and respond within 1 business day with a proposed resolution. Depending on the situation, this may be a replacement item, a repair, a partial refund, or a full refund — always at no cost to you, including full return shipping cost where the fault is confirmed to be ours.

We will never ask you to pay for the return or disposal of a genuinely defective or incorrect item.

Section 10.0

After the 14 Days: The Legal Guarantee of Conformity

This Return & Refund Policy governs your voluntary and statutory withdrawal rights during the first 14 days. It does not govern what happens if a product develops a genuine fault later — that is a separate right, the legal guarantee of conformity under Directive 2019/771/EU, and it runs for far longer.

NEW GOODS

2-Year Standard Guarantee

New goods carry a minimum statutory conformity guarantee of two years from delivery in every one of the thirteen countries we serve, extended to three years in Portugal and Spain under their respective national laws.

USED OEM GOODS

1-Year Reduced Guarantee

For genuine pre-owned OEM parts, the guarantee is reduced to a minimum of one year from delivery, as permitted under Directive 2019/771/EU Article 10(6), and is disclosed on each relevant product listing.

HOW TO CLAIM

Contact Us, Any Time

If a product stops working correctly, or turns out not to match its description, at any point during the applicable guarantee period, email info@carplaylux.com with your order number and a description of the fault. Full detail on this statutory guarantee is set out in Section 4 of our Legal Notice.

Put simply: change of mind within 14 days uses this Return & Refund Policy. A genuine defect, whenever it appears within the guarantee period, uses the legal conformity guarantee in our Legal Notice. Both rights exist side by side and neither limits the other.

Section 11.0

Goods That Have Already Been Installed or Used

This section is different from Section 8. It does not remove your statutory right of withdrawal — it explains a separate, practical limit: once a product has actually been wired into a vehicle's electrical system, permanently fitted, or shows clear signs of use or installation, we can no longer resell it as new or as inspected pre-owned stock, and for genuine safety and hygiene reasons relating to automotive electrical components, we cannot accept it back as a standard change-of-mind return.

What This Means for You

  • If you withdraw within 14 days before installing the product, your refund is unaffected by this section — Sections 2 through 7 apply in full.
  • If a product has been wired into your vehicle, permanently mounted, or shows clear evidence of installation or electrical use, and you no longer wish to keep it, we are unable to accept it as a change-of-mind return, consistent with the value-diminishment principle in Section 5.
  • This limitation never applies to a product that is faulty or was misdescribed — see Sections 9 and 10, which remain fully available to you regardless of installation status.

If you are ever unsure whether your specific situation falls under this section, contact us before taking any action — we are glad to advise you in advance at info@carplaylux.com.

Section 12.0

Cancelling an Order Before It Is Fulfilled

As explained in our Shipping Policy, many of our products are sourced against your order only once we have verified your vehicle's VIN, make, model, and year. Because of this, cancelling an order before it is processed is quick, free, and always available to you — you do not need to invoke the formal withdrawal procedure at all if you act before dispatch.

If, during vehicle compatibility verification, we determine that the estimated delivery time is longer than you are willing to wait, you may cancel at that point and receive a full refund with no deduction of any kind, before your order is processed for fulfilment.

Once an order has been dispatched, cancellation is no longer available in this simplified form — from that point, the 14-day statutory withdrawal right described in Sections 2 through 7 applies instead.

To Cancel Before Dispatch

Email info@carplaylux.com as soon as possible with your order number and a request to cancel. We aim to confirm cancellation and process your refund within 1 business day where the order has not yet been dispatched.

Section 13.0

Country-Specific Return Rules and Authorities

Each country nonetheless enforces it through its own national law and its own consumer authority. Expand your country below for the specific reference points relevant to your return.

Belgium

Governing law: German Civil Code (Bürgerliches Gesetzbuch, BGB), §§312g and 355–361 (Widerrufsrecht).

If unresolved: Your regional Junta Arbitral de Consumo, information at consumo.gob.es.

This country-specific overview is provided for transparency and general guidance and does not constitute legal advice. For questions specific to your own circumstances, contact the relevant national authority listed above or seek independent legal counsel.

Section 14.0

If We Cannot Resolve a Return or Refund Between Us

The overwhelming majority of return and refund questions are resolved directly with our team, usually within a few days. If you remain unsatisfied after contacting us, EU consumers, along with those in Norway and Iceland, have a free escalation route available.

European Consumer Centres Network (ECC-Net)

The European Commission's former Online Dispute Resolution Platform was discontinued on 20 July 2025 under Regulation (EU) 2024/3228 and is no longer available. If your withdrawal, return, or refund dispute is cross-border and cannot be resolved with us directly, contact the European Consumer Centre in your own country of residence, free of charge, via the ECC-Net:

A full list of officially recognised national ADR bodies is maintained by the European Commission at consumer-redress.ec.europa.eu. As stated in Section 12 of our Legal Notice, we are not obligated to participate in ADR under Dutch law, but we cooperate in good faith with any national ADR body or consumer centre referral, and consumers may always bring a dispute before the competent court of their own country of residence instead.
