Warranty & Product Guarantee Policy
Two Years of Protection, Built Into Every Order
Every product sold by Carplaylux (operated by Batterijen.net) automatically carries the mandatory EU legal guarantee of conformity under Directive (EU) 2019/771 — a minimum 2-year protection against faulty or non-conforming goods in every one of the 13 countries we serve, entirely separate from our 14-day return window and from any manufacturer warranty on OEM parts.
This guarantee applies automatically, at no extra cost, and cannot be reduced or excluded by anything written on our product pages or in a supplier's warranty card.
Your Cancellation Window, Your Legal Guarantee, and Any Manufacturer Warranty Are Not the Same Thing
These three protections run independently of one another, sometimes at the same time, and none of them replaces another:
14-Day Right of Withdrawal
A short window to change your mind after delivery, for any reason, on unopened and unused items. Explained fully in our Return & Refund Policy and Cancellation Policy. This right ends once the window closes or the item is installed.
Statutory 2-Year Legal Guarantee
A mandatory guarantee under EU law that the goods conform to the contract — meaning they work as described and are free from defects — for 2 years from delivery. This is what this page explains. It applies regardless of what any warranty card says.
Manufacturer / Supplier Warranty
An additional, voluntary warranty offered by the original manufacturer of certain OEM parts (for example, genuine BMW or Audi components), which may run for a different length of time and may add extra coverage or services alongside — never instead of — your statutory guarantee.
What Directive (EU) 2019/771 Guarantees You
Directive (EU) 2019/771 on the sale of goods sets a mandatory minimum standard that applies in every EU country, including all 13 markets we serve. It works as follows:
2-Year Minimum, Every Market
Goods must conform to the contract for at least 2 years from the date of delivery, in Belgium, the Czech Republic, France, Germany, Hungary, Italy, Croatia, the Netherlands, Austria, Portugal, Slovakia, Slovenia, and Spain alike. Some of these countries apply more consumer-favourable national rules that can extend this further, detailed by country further down this page.
Presumption in Your Favour
If a defect appears within the first year after delivery, the law presumes it already existed at the time of delivery, unless we can prove otherwise. This shifts the burden of proof onto us, not you, for that first year.
Independent of Any Other Warranty
This guarantee exists automatically, by law, regardless of whether a product also carries a manufacturer warranty, and regardless of whether your 14-day return window has already passed.
Applies to the Vehicle-Fitment Promise Too
Because our products are sold as fitting a specific make, model, and VIN confirmed at order verification, "conformity" includes the product actually functioning correctly once installed on the vehicle it was verified against.
The Remedy Order the Law Requires Us to Follow
EU law sets a specific order in which remedies must be offered. We cannot skip straight to a refund if repair is a reasonable option, and we cannot refuse a reasonable repair request in favour of a cheaper fix. Here is the order:
Repair
Your first-choice remedy. Free of charge, within a reasonable time, and without significant inconvenience to you.
Replacement
If you prefer replacement over repair, or repair is not possible, we provide a replacement unit of the same product, free of charge.
Price Reduction
Available if repair and replacement are impossible, disproportionate, not completed within a reasonable time, or would cause significant inconvenience.
Contract Termination
A full refund, available for the same reasons as price reduction, except where the non-conformity is minor — in which case only a price reduction applies.
Repair or replacement can only be refused where it is genuinely impossible, or where the cost to us would be disproportionate compared with the alternative remedy — never simply because it is more convenient for us.
What Sits on Top of Your 2-Year Statutory Guarantee
In addition to the 2-year statutory guarantee described above, many of our products also carry a manufacturer or supplier warranty. These periods vary by category, and the exact term for a specific listing is always confirmed on that product's page:
Genuine OEM Parts
Manufacturer warranty term varies by brand and part; used OEM assemblies are inspected before listing and sold with the term stated on the listing.
Aftermarket Electronics
CarPlay units, Android Auto multimedia systems, and control modules from our aftermarket suppliers.
LED Headlight & Rear Light Systems
Standard LED kits typically carry a 2-year supplier warranty; select premium or "Pro" LED product lines carry an extended 3-year term, clearly marked on the relevant product page.
Interior & Exterior Accessories
Trim, styling, and non-electronic accessories, with the exact term shown on each listing.
A Clear Line Between a Defect and Something Else
To keep this fair and predictable for everyone, here is exactly what a warranty or guarantee claim covers, and what it does not:
Covered
- Manufacturing defects present at the time of production
- Material failures under normal, intended use
- Functionality issues, such as a screen, module, or light that stops working correctly
- Dead-on-arrival (DOA) units that never functioned from first use
Not Covered
- Damage caused by improper or non-professional installation
- Water or moisture ingress outside the product's rated protection level
- Physical damage from impact, accident, or mishandling after delivery
- Normal wear and tear from ordinary long-term use
- Modifications, disassembly, or repairs carried out by the customer or a third party
- Incompatibility arising from incorrect vehicle details provided by the customer during order verification
If a claim falls into the "not covered" list above but you believe the underlying cause was actually a manufacturing defect (for example, a component that failed due to a design fault rather than water exposure), tell us — we assess every claim on its individual facts rather than applying these categories mechanically.
Manufacturer Warranty Runs Alongside, Not Instead Of, Your Legal Guarantee
Where we sell genuine OEM components, such as original BMW, Mercedes-Benz, Audi, Porsche, Jaguar, Bentley, or Lamborghini headlight assemblies, the original vehicle manufacturer's own warranty terms may also apply, in addition to your rights under this page. Manufacturer terms can vary by brand and by whether the part is new or a used/pre-owned OEM assembly, and are stated on the individual product listing where applicable. If a manufacturer's warranty terms are ever more restrictive than the statutory 2-year guarantee described here, the statutory guarantee still applies in full — a supplier or manufacturer warranty can only add to your rights, never take them away.
Five Steps to Get a Faulty Item Resolved
Whether you are claiming under the statutory guarantee or a manufacturer warranty, the process is the same:
Contact Us With the Issue
Email info@carplaylux.com within your warranty or guarantee period, describing exactly what is wrong.
Provide Proof of Purchase
Include your order number so we can confirm the delivery date and the exact item purchased.
Send Photos or Video
Where the defect is visible or demonstrable, attach clear photos or a short video — this speeds up assessment considerably.
Confirm Your Vehicle (VIN)
For vehicle-specific products, provide your VIN so we can re-verify fitment and rule out compatibility as the cause.
Receive Our Decision
We acknowledge every claim within 1 business day and confirm our decision — repair, replacement, price reduction, or refund — typically within 5 to 10 business days of receiving all requested information, or after inspecting a returned item where required.
If your item must be returned to us for inspection, we cover the cost of that return shipment where the claim concerns a genuine defect, and reimburse it if postage was paid by you upfront.
How Directive (EU) 2019/771 Is Applied in Each Market
The 2-year minimum is harmonized across the EU, but each country implements the directive through its own national law, and a small number of countries apply more consumer-favourable rules. Here is the detail for each market we serve:
Belgium
Czech Republic
France
Germany
Hungary
Italy
Croatia
Netherlands
Austria
Portugal
Slovakia
Slovenia
Spain
This overview is provided for transparency and general guidance and does not replace independent legal advice. If you have questions about how the guarantee applies in your specific country, we recommend consulting a local consumer-law professional or your national consumer protection authority listed above.
Tell Us What's Wrong — We'll Take It From There
Reach us Monday to Friday, 09:00–17:00 CET. We acknowledge every warranty and guarantee claim within 1 business day.
Note: EU consumer law provides a 2-year legal guarantee on all goods sold in the EU, regardless of any manufacturer warranty. This page explains that statutory right alongside the additional manufacturer coverage some of our products carry.
